How effective is your website?

One of the most important marketing strategies for any business these days is online. This can range from a business which has a small presence online, for example a basic website, to a business which invests heavily in the marketing of their website through a range of services including search engine optimisation, pay-per-click advertising, online marketing or social media marketing.

Whichever the case, a website is an additional source of leads for the company, it is a business development tool in which potential customers can find out more information about your business and its products and services.

This is one of the major reasons why a website should be more than simply informational. It should be designed to allow the customer to interact with the business, to purchase online, to make a booking or appointment, or to simply contact the business requesting more information.

So, if an interactive site is a step towards an effective site, then how effective is your website?  If the answer is not so effective, then I suggest considering the following strategies.

Blog

A blog is a way to update your visitors with new information on your business, the industry and so much more. A blog is also an easy to way to update the content on your site regularly (an important factor in SEO).

Video

The inclusion of video on your site is a great way to attract new visitors to your site, but is also an important factor in increasing the amount of time they remain on your site.

Avatars

Avatars are a fairly new and quite popular option, which create a channel for which the business can communicate with its users. Range in price from $USD 9.95 per month right through to $1000’s.

Enquiry Form

An enquiry form is a great way of collecting leads from people who have visited your site. Ensure that the form is easy to use and highly visible on your site.

Online Payment

Do you sell products or services through your site? Offer your visitors an option to pay online. Options include Paypal, Traditional Ecommerce systems and more. See our blog aypal vs Traditional Ecommerce for more information.

Interact with your customers

Social Media sites such as twitter, linkedin and facebook are making it a lot easier to connect with customers and clients on a regular basis. However- Beware, these tools must be used carefully!

Ensure that users feel they are interacting with the ‘people behind the business’, and not just an automated selling bot!

Yes make them aware of your products and services, but ensure they are getting value out of the information you provide.
